3-City Project: Wuhan, Shanghai, and Xi'an

The 3-City Project is a survey study of urban residents in three Chinese cities: Wuhan, Shanghai, and Xi'an. It a collaborative project involving Professor Zhongdang Pan now at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The survey questionnaire covered a wide range of topics, from socioeconomic and health well-being to leisure activities and media use. In addition, the survey design was unique in that both an adult respondent, and his/her elderly parent, if available, were contacted separately. Research topics include socioeconomic inequality, family relations and transfers, and economic and health well-being and lifestyles of the elderly population.
